There have been various technical strategies toward promoting sustainability proposed and practiced; however, the nature of the leadership in that field needs to be revisited and refined. Over the course of this session, the importance of gender equality as a critical element in advancing suitability in food system will be discussed and real-life examples will be shared by the speakers.

Jennifer Jo Wiseman has spent over 30 years joyously listening to the signals of life and using that knowledge to innovate. Her diverse teams have discovered, created, and launched services, products, brands, categories, and businesses across all consumer product sectors.
Her career has included diverse leadership roles, diverse companies (E&J Gallo Winery, The Gillette Company, Proctor and Gamble, Pepsi-Cola, consulting firms, small manufacturing firms), and diverse disciplines (deep sciences, technology development, product guidance and development, market/consumer/shopper insights, quality control, consumer relations and ad creative/claims).
All of these experiences fuel her passion for empowering collaboration across disciplines and backgrounds to create more holistic business solutions. She brings that passion to her current clients by enabling teams to rapidly see the bigger strategic picture and map their path using combinations of science/data and human empathy.
Kaan Demiryurek – R&D Director Sustainable Packaging at PepsiCo; [email protected]
Kaan Demiryurek is currently the R&D Director for Sustainable Packaging for Foods category at PepsiCo. He has been with PepsiCo for 20 years starting as an intern within the R&D function in Turkey. Prior to his current role, he led the R&D team for Potato Chips for North America. Throughout his 20 years at PepsiCo R&D, he worked in various business units in Europe (Turkey, Balkans, and East Europe) and North America across different foods categories. He holds his B.Sc. degree in Food Engineering from Middle East Technical University in Turkey. He resides in Frisco, TX with his family and actively participates in local amateur soccer leagues, and he is a devout video gamer. (maybe used to be!)
Due to his engineering background, he is very interested and personally invested in social sciences including philosophy, history, and psychology as self-development areas.
He recently authored a book for self-publishing with the title; Food for Thought: Food Science and Engineering for the Future of Humanity.
