Stephen Arens, GS1 US
Steve Arens manages various industry initiatives for GS1 US, the standards development and management organization responsible for the promotion and use of the GS1 System in the United States. His current responsibilities include GS1 US’ work enhancing the consumer coupon system, its work with the United Nations, its work with the produce and foodservice industries and he serves as the Executive Director of the Alcohol Beverage Industry Electronic Commerce Council. Steve also is working with the Department of Homeland Security and other government agencies as they design U.S. Customs’ new information management system to manage the inspection of imports. He has worked with a number of leading food and beverage suppliers, retailers and foodservice firms in their efforts to make their supply chains and business processes more efficient through the implementation and use of GS1 Standards. Prior to joining GS1 US, Steve worked for several leading marketing research and information firms. He holds a BS in Marketing and a MBA in Systems Management.
